Stained Glass Jubilee Window

Jubilee Stained Glass Window

Stained Glass Jubilee Window
It was a wet start to the day until the sun peeped through and glistened on the stained glass window panes prepared by many Perth Catholic schools. Wednesday 2nd July saw the blessing of the stained glass window created for the 100 years of Schoenstatt Jubilee.

110 students, teachers and parents (who were representatives from metropolitan and regional Catholic schools), along with other members of Schoenstatt, gathered together at the Schoenstatt Shrine, to present the stained glass window to Our Lady in the Shrine.

Sr Lisette opened the days’ ceremonies with an amazing power point featuring teachers and students working on their glass pane, which included each schools crest.

Then newly ordained Priest Fr. Brennan spoke of his experience of growing up with the Pilgrim Mother picture in his home, and how he came to visit and spend time with Our Lady in the Shrine while discerning to become a priest. “Our Lady can live in your hearts” he said, and you could almost see some of the children feel the warm connection in their own hearts.

Benediction took place followed by a procession from Emilie House to the Shrine. The heavens held the rain as the children and everyone processed with the complete middle section of the window, held by Ursula Frayne students, walked up the hill singing “We are companions on a journey”.

The stained glass window was blessed and presented to Our Lady and each participant made their way to the altar to make their own personal contribution into the vessel in the Shrine. It was a beautiful sight as the children circled around the Shrine singing songs of praise.

After returning to Emilie House in the sunshine, the students, teachers and family groups all celebrated, with Sr. Lisette giving presents to everyone as a special thank you to all for their efforts in this exciting venture.

Fr Brennan cut the Jubilee cake and everyone was treated to a delicious sausage sizzle and specially made stained glass icing cup cakes.

A great day was had by all. An invitation is now extended to all to join us for the Western Australian Jubilee Celebration on Sunday, 19th October 2014 at 2.00pm at the Schoenstatt Shrine. This will mark the beginning of the next 100 years.
